Victory Christian Children's Home (VCCH) is located in Bvumbwe, Malawi.
Where is Malawi? It is a small landlocked country located in southeastern Africa, bordered by Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Zambia. It is about the size of Pennsylvania with a population 17.5 million. The people of Malawi are located in the Warm Heart of Africa.
Malawi sets in a portion of the famous RIFT VALLEY that runs north / south down the length of the country. Lake Malawi occupies most the country’s eastern border. Lilongwe is the largest city and the political capital and Blantrye is Malawi's financial and commercial capital and the second largest city which is located in the southern region of the country. The VCCH campus is located a forty-five minute drive south of Blantyre.
The official languages are Chichewa and English. The monetary unit is the Kwacha.
Agriculture is the main sustenance level. Exports include tea, coffee, tobacco, sugar and cotton. 97% of Malawians have no electricity. Life expectancy is only 52 years of age. The AIDS / HIV pandemic has hit the nation extremely hard leaving over a million children as orphans and leading us to answer God’s call to “care for the fatherless and widows”.
The need to help these children is overwhelming. Victory Christian Children's home is answering that call.
